An Existential Threat: Climate Change and Global Warming

Rising sea levels. Extreme weather. Warming oceans. Drought. Wildfires. All of these effects and more can betraced to climate change. We know this, yet our leaders are slow to act and reluctant to commit. As a result, we are running out of time.

Too Little, Too Late?

After four years of absence and inaction, the US government has rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement, andPresident Biden has vowed to cut carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. Yet there is no plan for achieving thisgoal, and even if there were, it would depend on the cooperation of the Congress, many of whose membersare “climate deniers.” And is 50% by 2030 enough, especially with China’s emissions projected to beincreasing until at least 2030? What is to be done?

Clearly, we can’t afford to put off action for another ten years or more. For the sake of our children and theirchildren, we must act now.
